MUSC For Health Alcohol & Drug Recovery Services Celebrates National Recovery Month

Join MUSC for Health Alcohol & Drug Recovery Services for a celebration of National Recovery Month.  The event takes place Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The location is MUSC Health Florence Medical Center (Main Lobby) 805 Pamplico Hwy Florence, SC 29505.

This event will feature local organizations sharing resources and information about programs and services available in the Pee Dee Area. The resources will include information about substance abuse, mental health, treatment and wellness practices.

Bruce Hall’s goal is to promote public awareness about mental health and addiction/substance use recovery while celebrating the resilience and contributions of those in recovery.

Children Of Hope Campaign Receives Large Donation

Jebaily Properties, a consistent donor and long-time supporter of HopeHealth, provided a major donation to the Children of Hope program this year to help create holiday joy. John Jebaily and his daughter Julie Jebaily recently presented HopeHealth with a $7,500 check for the program.

HopeHealth strives to make the holidays special for children experiencing difficult circumstances through its Children of Hope Christmas in July fundraising campaign.

Thanks to the funds raised during Christmas in July, pre-selected children who are HopeHealth patients will receive much-needed clothing and toys for the holidays.

Charlee Rhodes, HopeHealth development and events coordinator, shared, “The Children of Hope program is over 20 years old, and it is beautiful to see that community members are still willing to build this program for the future. We are thankful to the Jebaily family for pouring into the future of our community by supporting its children.”

Leadership Florence Class of 2025 Attends Retreat

Leadership Florence Class of 2025 kicked off their year with a fun and informative 2-day Retreat.

Gina Trimarco Klauder of Pivot10 Results facilitated a discussion of leadership principles and strategies last Monday, followed by a dinner and a poolside reception.

Day two consisted of team building exercises at Wonderworks Myrtle Beach.

St. Anthony Catholic School Partners With Florence County Library Bookmobile To Foster Literacy

St. Anthony Catholic School students were thrilled to check out books from the Florence County Library System Bookmobile, which visited the school on Tuesday. The visit marked a significant step in enhancing the educational experience of the students by providing them with an additional opportunity outside of the school library to have direct access to a wide array of reading materials and resources.

The Florence County Library System Bookmobile is dedicated to promoting literacy and instilling a lifelong love of reading. During the bookmobile’s visit to St. Anthony Catholic School, students eagerly explored the extensive collection of books available for checkout. The bookmobile’s visit was more than just a book distribution event; it was an interactive experience that included an engaging storytelling session, dancing, and sign language instruction designed to captivate young minds and foster a deeper connection to reading.

The Pines at Florence Assisted Living Holds Ribbon Cutting

Laura Camper along with staff and Chamber Ambassadors cut their ribbon joining the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce for The Pines at Florence assisted living.

The Pines is a live-in care and board for seniors through apartment living with onsite around the clock caregivers and medication technicians. The Pines provides a homelike setting with meals, active programming, socialization, wellness programs, spiritual support and community outings. They can transport residents for medical appointments. They also have internal onsite medical professionals to complete care and support a healthy well-being for all residents.

The Pines provides service care to those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia in their Memory Care unit. It is a secured unit with specialized and educated care givers in cognition and behavioral needs and active programming. They provide the benefits and services of living at home and can prevent caregiver stress and undue hardships on the resident and families.

Fellows in Education Visit North Vista Elementary

Last week, North Vista Elementary welcomed the 2024-2025 Fellows in Education Class to their new school. The Fellows group met with the school principal, Mrs. Sharon Dixon, to learn about the staff educational focus, and creative student interests. Participants then explored the school by participating in a scavenger hunt and later visited select classrooms sessions. They closed the afternoon with a great lunch and a question-and-answer session with Florence 1 Schools Superintendent, Dr. Rich O’Malley.

The class of 30 local civic and business leaders will visit 8 different Florence 1 Schools over the next 8 months to share firsthand what is occurring in the district each day as we educate our children.

Fellows In Education is a joint program between Florence 1 Schools, the School Foundation and the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce.
