McLeod’s “Evening of Hope” Set For Thursday

An Evening of Hope supporting the HOPE Fund at the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 6 p.m. at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center. The presenting sponsor for the McLeod Health Foundation’s 25th Annual Cancer Benefit is Harbor Freight Tools Foundation. HopeHealth Welcomes New Provider

HopeHealth welcomes Harrison Hyman, PharmD, to the HopeHealth Medical Plaza in Florence, where he provides clinical pharmacy services to patients.

He completed his undergraduate pre-pharmacy studies from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina and received a Doctor of Pharmacy from Wingate University School of Pharmacy in Wingate, North Carolina, where he was a Will H. Darby Pharmacy Scholarship recipient. He is a graduate of the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Longitudinal Scholars Program in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His internship and residency was completed at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

His clinical interests are Cardiology and Endocrinology. He is a member of the American Pharmacists Association.

Registration Now For The Chamber’s Fall Golf Classic

The Chamber will be holding its’ Annual Fall Golf Classic, on Thursday, October 3rd at Traces Golf Club. We expect to have a sellout field of local business & community golfers back on the course for some great golf, food, beverages, and fun. This year’s tournament is being sponsored by Field Fastener. A great lunch is provided to start the day at 11:00 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at noon. Come experience great food and prizes throughout the course with 12 food and prize hospitality holes. Each registered golfer will be entered into a drawing to participate in a $25,000 cash shoot out!

Florence & Hartsville Chambers To Host The SC Chamber Grassroots Legislative Agenda Luncheon

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce will host the SC Chambers Grassroots Tour Luncheon again this year. The Luncheon is being held on Wednesday, October 2, at the Darlington Raceway Media Center. Doors will open at 11:30am for lunch and the program will begin at 12 noon.

Each year, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce partners with regional chambers of commerce throughout South Carolina to present the SC Chamber’s Alliance Grassroots Tour to share a state legislative update for area businesses. The interactive luncheon offers chamber members an opportunity to hear about current legislation impacts from local business and industries. Mike Brenan, President & CEO of the SC Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to attend the event.

The feedback received from this program will help shape the State Chamber’s 2025 Competitiveness Agenda and set the Chamber’s priorities for the next legislative session in Columbia.

Chamber Announces Date Of 2024 Fall Community Breakfast – Education & Workforce Update

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce has announced its fall Community Breakfast will be an Education and Workforce Update. It will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, at Florence Center.

The breakfast speakers include Francis Marion University president Dr. Fred Carter and Florence-Darlington Technical College president Dr Jermaine Ford.

With the growing need in area workforce development impacted by our expanding manufacturing sector, the breakfast update will prove very informative covering how our higher-level education systems are working to grow skilled workers here in Northeastern South Carolina.

The doors will open at 7:30am and the program begins at 8:00am. Tickets are $225 for a reserved table or $25 for individual registration.

HopeHealth welcomes Dr. Gulce Solakoglu, an endocrinologist providing care for patients at the HopeHealth Medical Plaza in Florence and HopeHealth in Manning.

Dr. Solakoglu graduated from medical school at Acibadem University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Lincoln Medical Center/Weil Cornell in Bronx, New York. She completed her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida where she was awarded a certificate of academic achievement.

Dr. Solakoglu treats patients with diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, adrenal gland disorders, pituitary gland disorders, parathyroid gland disorders, osteoporosis, lipid disorders, obesity, hypogonadism, and other endocrine-related disorders including disorders related to the male and female reproductive system. She speaks English and Turkish. She is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
