Florence Receives $60,000 Railroad Crossing Grant
/in Frontpage Article, Images, News /by Mandy HowleA $60,000 grant will enable Florence to study 33 railroad crossings. The project will lead to a plan to improve safety for some crossings.
The money comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), which awarded it to the state in Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) Grant Program funding.
Florence received all of the grant.
The project will result in a publicly available action plan that will identify crossings requiring safety improvements and crossings of high safety concern to rail rights-of-way owned by CSX and South Carolina Central Railroad. The City of Florence will provide a 20 percent non-federal match.
