For the Pee Dee Region to remain competitive in today’s challenging business environment, our education system must focus on creating a talented workforce prepared to compete for highly-skilled jobs. A talented workforce can be one of our area’s best economic development tools to help businesses grow and to create more jobs.
To help our local businesses understand what local education leaders are doing to prepare future employees, the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Regional Education Summit” that will include a breakfast and presentations from those closely connected to the education community in the Pee Dee.
When: Wednesday, September 14, 2016 – 7:30am
Where: Florence Civic Center
Cost: $20 for individual tickets
The program will include speakers such as Hood Temple, 7th District Commissioner on Higher Education, who will offer updates on current state initiatives and programs and Dr. Fred Carter, President of Francis Marion University and Dr. Ben Dillard, President of Florence-Darlington Technical College, who will both speak on local efforts to keep our education system positioned to train tomorrow’s workforce.
Breakfast will begin at 7:30am. The program will begin shortly afterward. Tickets are available at flochamber.com or at the Chamber business offices at 100 W. Evans St.
