MUSC’s Butterworth Named President Of National Board

Michelle Butterworth, DPM, FACFAS, a distinguished podiatric surgeon based in Kingstree, South Carolina, for 25 years, has been named president of the  American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). Butterworth is only the third physician to have served as president of the two national podiatric surgical organizations: the ABFAS and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). She is also the only woman to have been elected president of both the ABFAS and ACFAS.

In addition to her national leadership, Butterworth has served as president of the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association and as past chairman of the Podiatry Institute. Locally, she represents Kingstree as a councilwoman and mayor pro tem.
