Florence Greek Festival Returns May 16 – 18

They are excited to, once again, welcome all of you to their annual Greek Festival. This year they are bringing back their outdoor dining, along with the convenient Drive Thru lines. Their covered dining area has been relocated next to the Church and will feature a dancing stage, live band and vendors. They will offer all their delicious dinners and homemade pastries, along with some “surprise” additions!

Junior Leadership Florence County Holds Graduation

Congratulations to the Junior Leadership Florence County 4-H Program Class of 2023-2024 on completing their year-long program! This bright group of students represented the different schools in Florence County and spent the year honing their leadership skills and learning more about their community. They celebrated with their peers and families with a commencement ceremony on May 7th at Francis Marion University.

The Junior Leadership Florence County Program is presented by the Clemson Extension Florence County Extension/4-H, The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and Francis Marion University with support from the community.

Florence Flamingos Still In Search Of Host Families

The Florence Flamingos are still looking for host families for the 2024 team. All that is required of a host family is to provide a bed, access to a bathroom/laundry room/kitchen. In return, host families will receive tickets to all home and away games, invites to exclusive events throughout the year, and exciting memories! Host families are NOT required to provide meals, transportation, or attend any games. The team is made up of full-time players, who are here from the middle of May through the end of July, and temporary players who are only here in the month of July. Marksmanship Park Planned For Florence

Florence County Progress, the private sector of the Florence County Economic Development Partnership, is working with the county to repurpose 500 acres of the county’s former landfill on Paper Mill Road to build a marksmanship park.

Plans are being drawn to recreate the world-renowned Civilian Marksmanship Program Park in Talladega, Alabama. It would accommodate thousands for firearm training and competitions.

“We are trying to recreate a Talladega in Florence,” said Jill Heiden Lewis, chairman of Progress. “It’s a perfect fit for Florence County Progress.”

Get ready for a fun-filled night! The mics will be off and the laughs will be loud when performers from the Florence community take the stage to battle it out for a good cause. Support and help the Florence Area Literacy Council raise funds for educational programs offered to adults working to improve their education.

A & J Firearms invites you to their Grand Opening Ceremony on Thursday, May 30th. The event begins at 2:00 PM with a ribbon cutting with the Darlington Chamber, followed by the Florence Chamber ribbon cutting at 2:30. The event runs until 5:00 pm and includes shooting competitions a shotgun raffle.

Friends Of The Florence County Library To Host Author Luncheon

Friends of the Florence County Library invite you to a luncheon to celebrate the release of C. Hope Clark’s newest book, Edge of Edisto.
